April 30, 2025—kozēkozē, a perinatal personal hygiene products company on a mission to reduce mess and stress so that moms can better bond with their babies, served as the presenting sponsor of the inaugural Indiana Doula Conference at The Haverstick in Indianapolis on Friday, April 25.
Over 150 Indiana-based perinatal professionals from all certifying bodies, specialties, and areas of passion joined local birth educator, doula, and conference founder, Erin Brier, for a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind statewide gathering that featured continued learning, collaboration, networking, and community building, specifically themed around “Celebrating the Diversity of Birth.”
While the need for doulas is clear, ongoing support and education for certified doulas is limited. The Indiana Doula Conference aims to bridge this gap by offering continuing education sessions and opportunities to learn from other birth professionals, while also providing essential networking opportunities, enabling doulas to strengthen peer connections, share insights, and build a unified community committed to improving birth experiences and outcomes across Indiana.
“Witnessing the first-ever Indiana Doula Conference come to life filled me with immense pride and deep gratitude,” said local Indiana doula and conference founder, Erin Brier. “Seeing our vision unfold in a room full of passionate, dedicated doulas was nothing short of fulfilling. I’m profoundly thankful for every person who showed up, supported, and helped bring this dream to reality—together, we made history.”
The day featured over 12 diverse breakout sessions, featuring topics on business growth, mental health, and reproductive justice; an engaging panel and Q&A with expert reps from the home birth, midwifery, OBGYN, birth center, and free birth spaces; two mindfulness sessions; over 20 doula-championing business vendors; and swag bags filled with self-care, birth-focused, and surprise goodies.
“Being a part of this conference felt like the most meaningful work in my life—and I am not even a birth worker,” said kozēkozē founder and CEO, Garrett Kusmierz. “These miracle workers, I mean, doulas, are true facilitators for change. I learned that supporting families through birth and postpartum healing can truly heal communities! My intention for being there was to support doulas as they impact maternal health outcomes, but my eyes were opened to so much more!”
